Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in the hospitality industry while contributing to a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and take their orders accurately
Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including coffee and tea, ensuring quality standards are met
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or snacks
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in all areas of the café
Serve customers at the counter or table, providing friendly and attentive service
Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
Keep the café clean and organised, including clearing tables, washing dishes, and restocking supplies
Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service
Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers

Qualifications

Previous barista experience or food serving background is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
Knowledge of food safety standards is advantageous
Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently
Excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks during busy periods
Friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills
Ability to work well as part of a team in a lively environment
