Fabricator Welder – Night Shift
Grenville Engineering (Stoke-on-Trent) Ltd is a well-established sheet metal fabrication company with nearly 40 years of trading history and a proven track record of providing secure, long-term employment.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Fabricator Welder to join our busy manufacturing facility in Stoke-on-Trent.
Night Shift Role & Pay Information
This role is currently assigned to our night shift and the advertised rate reflects the applicable night shift enhancements.
The advertised rate of £18.62 per hour applies to night shift working only.
The standard day shift rate for this position is £14.00 per hour.
Night shift hours are:
Monday to Thursday, 4:00pm – 4:00am
Night shift pay is calculated as follows:
- First 32 hours per week paid at £18.62 per hour (time plus one-third)
- Remaining 14 hours per week paid at £21.00 per hour (time plus one-half)
This provides an average hourly rate of approximately £19.34 per hour across the 46-hour working week.
The successful candidate will be required to complete approximately one month of training on day shift before transferring to nights. During this training period, all hours worked will be paid at the standard day rate of £14.00 per hour.
Please note that although this shift has been constant and unchanged in 5 years - it may be subject to change dependant on requirements.
The Role
Candidates must be prepared to undertake both bespoke fabrication work from start to finish and volume jig work for sustained periods when required.
Requirements
The successful candidate must:
- Have a minimum of 5 years' experience MIG welding mild steel up to 12mm thickness
- Be capable of working from engineering drawings
- Measure accurately and work to specified tolerances
- Be happy working to deadlines and achieving production targets
- Be competent using hand tools and air tools
- Maintain accurate and tidy production paperwork
- Be willing to undertake other production-related duties as required, including grinding, shearing and machining
TIG welding experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
Weld Test
The successful candidate will be required to complete a practical weld test before employment commences. This will be carried out either on the interview date or at a pre-arranged date and time.
Probationary Period
This position is subject to a 6-month probationary period.
