Work base: Coed Pella, Colwyn Bay
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Auditor to join our Internal Audit team and help strengthen governance, risk management and internal control across the Council. With full operational independence, Internal Audit provides trusted assurance and practical insight at a time of increasing demand and reduced resources, supporting services to innovate and improve while ensuring risks are effectively managed and robust controls are in place.
About the Role
This is a great opportunity to build your audit experience in a supportive environment. As an Auditor, you will be part of the team that provides audit services across the Council. You will help plan and deliver audits from start to finish (with supervision and support), including documenting how services operate, carrying out testing, keeping clear working papers and using our audit management system. You will also produce audit reports with practical recommendations, carry out follow-up work to check progress, and support work such as fraud, corruption and disciplinary investigations.
You will work with a wide range of people (including Heads of Service, managers and colleagues across the Council), so being able to communicate clearly, build good working relationships and handle sensitive information with confidentiality is essential.
This role offers flexible working options for a work life balance. This can include adjusting your working day and hybrid working, i.e. a balance of office and home working.
About You
You will have an enquiring and analytical mind, strong IT skills (including Microsoft Office) and be comfortable working with data, extracting information from systems, analysing it in spreadsheets and producing clear, professional audit reports. You will bring a professional approach and be able to identify and evaluate risks and controls, communicate findings and recommendations, and work tactfully with clients to resolve issues. You will have good time management skills, a commitment to integrity, and the ability to work to deadlines as part of a team. In return, we offer a supportive working environment, valuable experience and career development opportunities for the right applicant, and the benefits associated with local government employment.
What We Offer
- A supportive, collaborative working environment.
- Hybrid working options and flexible working arrangements.
- Access to Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
- Professional development opportunities, including support for CPD.
- Generous annual leave entitlement.
- An inclusive organisation that supports wellbeing and work–life balance.
