Full job description

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Group Financial Reporting team. This is a key role where you’ll take ownership of external regulatory reporting for the Aster Group, including VAT, NROSH, and annual financial reports.

You’ll play a vital part in supporting the year end audit, providing technical accounting guidance, and driving process improvements. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively and making a real impact.

Preparing statutory accounts for subsidiary companies and supporting the group’s consolidated accounts.
Assisting with the year end audit and responding to queries to ensure a smooth process.
Coordinating and delivering regulatory financial reporting, including VAT returns and submissions to HMRC.
Providing technical accounting support across the business and staying up to date with reporting requirements.
Leading and developing an Assistant Financial Accountant through effective delegation and coaching.
Championing continuous improvement and supporting process enhancements across finance.

A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with at least two years post-qualification experience in financial or management accounting. You have:

Strong technical accounting expertise, including consolidation and statutory accounts preparation.
Experience with audits and external reporting requirements.
Knowledge of VAT and corporation tax, ideally within the housing sector.
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders and external advisers.
Good attention to detail, with the ability to review work critically and constructively to ensure accuracy and compliance.
A proactive mindset with the ability to manage workloads and deliver to tight deadlines.
Experience managing or mentoring others.
