What is the role?
Make a difference every day as a Tenancy Support Coach at Hafod.
In this rewarding and community-focused role, you’ll support tenants to sustain their tenancies, build independence, and improve their wellbeing. Working across communities and visiting people in their homes, you’ll provide proactive, person-centred support, helping individuals overcome challenges and prevent tenancy breakdown or homelessness. You will also be identifying ways to gather tenants views to enable them to be involved in decision-making within their local community.
This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract full time job opportunity covering Cardiff, Newport and Torfaen region.

This role involves travelling independently across our sites and services as part of day-to-day duties. You may have access to a company vehicle, but for most roles you’ll need to use your own vehicle.
Because of this, you’ll need to hold a full, valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle. If you use your own vehicle for work, you’ll also need appropriate insurance (for example business use).

What you’ll be doing
- Provide tailored housing-related support to help tenants manage their homes, finances and responsibilities.

Build positive, trusting relationships through home visits, regular check-ins and ongoing engagement.

Identify risks early and deliver timely interventions to prevent tenancy breakdown and crisis situations.

Develop and review person-centred action and risk plans, ensuring progress is tracked and recorded.

Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners (e.g. social services, mental health teams) to provide holistic support.

Organise activities to promote wellbeing, community connection , and independent living.

Champion tenant empowerment and help people feel safe, confident, and connected.

What you’ll bring

Experience or understanding of social housing, support work or a related field.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to support people from diverse backgrounds.

A compassionate, resilient and person-centred approach, with a genuine desire to help others succeed.

Ability to manage a varied workload, solve problems and have constructive, sometimes challenging conversations.

Awareness of safeguarding and a commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals safely and effectively.

Our Homes & Communities colleagues provide a wide range of services across 4 regional teams covering 7 local authority areas in South Wales, supporting people throughout their housing journey. We deliver neighbourhood management, repairs, tenancy sustainability, financial and digital inclusion, community engagement and estate services alongside specialist extra care housing.
Using a person-centred coaching approach, we work alongside people to build confidence, improve wellbeing and help them live well in their homes. Working collaboratively, we deliver a tenure neutral housing management and repairs service, enabling us to be more visible in our communities and respond quickly to meet the needs of our tenants and communities.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, values-led team that puts people first, focuses on building stronger and more trusting relationships with tenants, works closely with partners and is committed to making a real difference, while supporting you to learn, grow and build your career in housing.
