Description
Alternative Provision and Intervention Youth Worker (four posts)
Have you got a skill and a heart for young people? At Aspire in Arts we work with young people who have often had a hard time in mainstream education, and we give them a safe, creative place to grow. We are looking for four youth workers to join our Alternative Provision and Intervention team in Nuneaton, each bringing a real skill into the room.
About the role
You will deliver and support sessions across both our Post-16 and intervention provisions, including one-to-one support for young people who need someone beside them. Each youth worker brings a vocational or creative skill, so across the team we offer real breadth. We are recruiting one worker in each of these areas: textiles, sports, gaming and coding, and beauty and cooking. These posts also hold one-to-one funding for individual young people, so part of your week may be dedicated to named young people who have one-to-one support in place.
What you will be doing
- Supporting young people one to one in sessions, helping them stay engaged, settled and safe
- Delivering in your vocational or creative area, building real skills and progression rather than filling time
- Supporting Maths, English and Arts Award sessions alongside the coordinators
- Keeping clear session notes and feeding back on how young people are doing
- Building relationships and holding kind, consistent boundaries
- Following safeguarding and all policies and procedures, escalating concerns appropriately
- Being flexible and covering across both provisions as the monthly timetable requires
- Covering one weekly youth session on a day to be confirmed, which will be a later finish
- Delivering and supporting our Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme during the school holidays
What we are looking for
Essential
- A vocational or creative skill in one of our areas: textiles, sports, gaming and coding, or beauty and cooking
- An interest in working with young people, especially those with additional needs or who have disengaged
- A willingness to complete safeguarding and youth work training
- Able to support young people one to one and help them stay engaged
- Able to deliver skills-based sessions with real progression
- A reliable team player, flexible to cover across both provisions
- Able to keep clear, accurate session notes
Desirable
- A relevant qualification in your skill area or in youth work
