Opkill Pest Control Limited are an established business within the Midlands, South West and Northern England, and recently expanded into the USA.
An additional exciting opportunity has been made available for a trainee pest control technician to join our growing team, to learn and be involved in a new career path, working on our council and commercial contracts.

A full development training programme will be provided, where your commitment will be required, to obtain your qualifications or help improve on knowledge you may already have.
The area of work will mainly be mainly within Redditch/Birmingham and Coventry but at times be where business needs require (E.g. Leicester/Worcester, ).
You'll use chemicals and equipment to deal with insects and animals like rats, mice, foxes, moles and birds. You could work anywhere from people’s homes to restaurants, sewers, warehouses or farms.
Your day-to-day duties may include:
- investigating and identifying pests
- collecting dead animals and samples for analysis
- finding out how pests are getting in
- choosing a method of control
- spraying chemicals to get rid of insects
- laying poison and traps or using air guns to control birds and animals
- repairing an area to stop pests returning
- advising people how to prevent further problems
- completing reports and keeping records
- handling and storing chemicals
- getting rid of dead or captured animals
You'll need:
- customer service skills
- full, clean driving licence
- confidence with maths for calculating doses of chemicals
- practical skills to investigate problems
- knowledge of health and safety
- knowledge of how chemicals affect the environment
You'll usually work Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.00pm. You'll often work alone, driving to jobs in a van.
You could work indoors or outside. You may need to crawl into confined spaces or climb ladders. You may also need to wear protective clothing.
You'll need physical fitness and good eyesight to investigate problems. You may come across unpleasant sights and smells.
This work may not be suitable if you've allergies or certain skin conditions.
Package
Basic salary starts at £24,000 for no previous experience but rising quickly with qualifications and experience. Expectations of OTE £28k+ in first year (with O/T, bonus and commission).
