Full time Sample Receipt Technician
Previously operating as Microsearch Laboratories, we now trade as ifp-labs UK West Yorkshire Limited. We are a UKAS accredited laboratory that has been providing analytical services to the food industry for over 30 years. We are a fast-growing company comprising of five separate laboratories based across two sites.
We are looking for a Sample Receipt Technician to work in the Sample receipt department of our main analytical laboratory.
Duties will include:
- Checking samples upon receipt, recording arrival condition and arrival temperature whenever applicable.
- Checking client paperwork ensuring correlation with the samples received and immediately contacting clients whenever there is a discrepancy.
- Storing the samples under the appropriate conditions in line with procedures.
- Ensure that the analysis suite allocated to the job accurately meets the client requirements.
- When required, log details onto the appropriate database system.
- When required Logging in sample submissions into the relevant databases.
- Liaise with clients over telephone and email.
- Support the Microbiological department when needed.
Available Shift patterns
- Monday to Friday, 12pm to 8pm with a 35-minute unpaid break and a 1 in 3 Saturday rota commitment, on trial as 10am to 6pm with a 35-minute unpaid break.
Some overtime maybe required at the end of the shift.
Essential Criteria:
- 5 GCSE's A-C / 4 or above which must include English.
- Computer Literate in excel and word.
- Excellent communication skills both written and spoken.
Desirable Criteria:
- A-Level's or equivalent.
- GCSE in IT.
Candidates must be highly organised, efficient, and accurate with strict attention to detail. They should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be confident in communicating directly with customers. Good computer skills are essential. Candidates should be reliable and able to work as an integral part of a small team.
This role is physical and will include lifting crates and sorting through samples.
Successful candidate’s will be given the relevant training with regards to all the above duties.
Please be aware this is a production role and not analysis based.
Candidates will be required to undertake a short computer test at interview.
Unspent criminal convictions required to be declared at application.
