This role will be 3 days a week in our Kings Hill office and 2 days per week working from home.
The role:
The Assistant Financial Controller reports to the Financial Controller ensuring the effective and accurate budget controls, forecasting, management accounting and departmental reporting ensuring compliance and tax regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Role Requirements:
Overseeing the day-to-day financial operations: AP, AR, banking, payroll and maintaining accounting software records
- Support the financial controller with full end to end accounting for the business.
- Ensure the month end P&L is produced on time, with all accounts accurately viewed and reconciled to ensure accurate reflection of the company financial results
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, extended trial balances, balance sheets for monthly and year end accounts
- Maintaining prepayments and accruals schedules
- Reconciling the stock at month
- Assisting with fortnightly payment runs
- Assist with the quarterly VAT returns
- Accurately prepare the monthly bank reconciliations ensuring they are completed within deadlines
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision making
- Posting journals for the intercompany loans and expenses
- Assist with the year end audit external and internal audit processes and compliance activities
Note: In addition to these duties, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required to support the objectives of the Company.
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
Required
GSE level 5-9
Working towards an accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Experience as an Assistant Financial Controller or another similar position
- In depth knowledge of financial accounting principles and proven experience in producing accurate financial reporting
- Management Accounts experience
- Experience of budgeting and reporting processes
- Proficient with financial management systems,
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office packages – Excel Advanced and financial modelling
- Knowledge of GAAP and regulations
- A self-starter and proven ability to work under pressure.
- Good written communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills and ability prioritise
