Oakchurch farm Shop is an award winning farm shop. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Kitchen Assistant/Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food and eager to develop their skills within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the kitchen operations, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety are maintained at all times.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients and basic meal components in line with menu requirements
- Support senior chefs with cooking and plating dishes to ensure timely service
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards diligently to ensure compliance with health regulations
- Help with inventory management by receiving deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately
- Assist in setting up the kitchen before service and cleaning down after shifts
- Support serving staff during busy periods by providing prepared food as needed
- Contribute to a positive team environment through effective communication and cooperation
Skills
- Experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional or hospitality setting is desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Basic culinary skills with an understanding of meal preparation techniques
- Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is advantageous but not essential for motivated learners
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Flexibility to adapt to various tasks within the kitchen environment
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Pay: £12.21-£15.00 per hour
