We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated tutors of German, Italian, and Spanish to join our high-performing and committed Evening Languages Team. Our part-time evening courses run from September/October 2026 until June 2027 and there is a possibility of teaching between one and four evenings per week (Monday to Thursday, class times 6.30pm to 8.00pm), subject to student numbers. We also open additional courses in January and April. When a course becomes available, the successful applicant will be offered a fixed term contract for the duration of the course.
Adult Evening Languages Provision
The department offers a wide range of non-accredited courses in Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish, ranging from holiday beginner through to advanced level.
An Adult Evening Languages Manager is responsible for running the Adult Evening Language provision, with support from a Curriculum Assistant and a Head of Faculty. The Manager oversees the operational running of the provision, including curriculum development, enrolments and on-course administration. They also have responsibility for the day to day running of the provision and liaising with students and tutors. All classrooms are equipped with interactive digital whiteboards and speakers and laptops are provided for the tutors for the use in lessons.
Contract details:
- Fixed term for the duration of the course(s) that you teach
- The current salary is £30.70 per hour (£34.40 per hour including holiday pay)
- Your hourly rate is paid only for actual hours taught but takes into account such additional time that may be needed to enable you to discharge your duties effectively, including lesson preparation, schemes of work, marking, keeping records and assessment.
- You are also entitled to 5.6 weeks of holiday pay (pro rata based on the duration of your fixed term contract). This will be calculated based on your average hours worked per week and will be paid to you as a lump sum at the end of each term. This will be shown on your payslip as holiday pay.
- Notice period: 2months notice period
- All teachers at BHASVIC automatically become members of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS).
