The Rectory hotel is a contemporary yet relaxed Cotswolds country house hotel and restaurant. With 18 beautifully designed bedrooms, a focus on seasonal 'food you want to eat' dining, proper cocktails & beautiful grounds to explore. We offer a warm, informal but high-quality guest experience.
We are looking for an experienced and confident head waiter/waitress to join our F&B team. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional service while lading shifts and supporting the wider team in maintaining standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the waiting staff to ensure smooth service delivery during each shift
- Greet guests warmly and assist with seating arrangements to optimise flow and comfort
- Take accurate orders from guests, offering menu recommendations and upselling where appropriate
- Serve food and beverages promptly while maintaining high standards of presentation and etiquette
- Ensure all health and safety regulations, including food safety standards, are strictly adhered to
- Manage reservations, handle guest inquiries, and resolve any complaints or issues professionally
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders
- Oversee cleanliness and organisation of the dining area before, during, and after service shifts
- Assist in training new staff members to uphold service standards and company policies
Experience
- Proven experience in hospitality or restaurant service roles, ideally as a Head Waiter/Waitress or Supervisor
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures
- Experience with food preparation and kitchen operations is advantageous
- Excellent guest service skills with the ability to anticipate guest needs and provide personalised attention
- Competence in basic maths for billing, splitting bills, and handling transactions accurately
- Familiarity with upselling techniques to enhance guest experience and maximise revenue
- Effective time management skills to handle busy service periods efficiently
- Previous experience in culinary environments or with culinary teams is desirable but not essential
