Job description
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and reliable qualified Dispenser or Technician to join our busy and friendly pharmacy team. This is a flexible role offering between 30 to 37.5 hours per week, with working times to be discussed to suit both the successful candidate and business needs. The successful candidate must have previous experience working with care homes and be confident managing care home medication processes in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.
Responsibilities
- Dispensing prescriptions accurately and efficiently
- Supporting the pharmacist with daily pharmacy operations
- Managing care home prescriptions and medication workflows
- Preparing and processing care home medication orders using care home medication software
- Liaising with GP surgeries, care homes, and healthcare professionals confidently
- Managing repeat prescriptions and stock control
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with pharmacy procedures
- Providing excellent customer service
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services qualification (or equivalent)
- Previous pharmacy dispensing experience
- Experience working with care homes is essential
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be confident to handle and successfully deal with queries from care homes and patients via telephone and email
Desirable:
- Experience using pharmacy PMR systems
- Experience using care home medication software
- Knowledge of monitored dosage systems (MDS/blister packs)
- Accuracy checking qualification
