Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our team. The role will suit a commercially aware individual with proven site experience, capable of managing costs from tender stage through to final account. The position can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the candidate’s availability and experience.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions
· Carry out take-offs and pricing from drawings and specifications
· Manage project costs, valuations, and cash flow
· Prepare interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
· Procure subcontractors and materials
· Negotiate prices and agreements with suppliers and subcontractors
· Monitor project progress and report on cost performance
· Work closely with site managers and directors to ensure commercial control
· Attend site meetings and conduct regular site visits
· Ensure projects are delivered within budget and to programme
Essential Requirements
· Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor and/or Estimator
· Strong site-based experience within the construction industry
· Sound knowledge of construction methods and materials
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
· Good commercial awareness and cost control skills
· Strong negotiation and communication skills
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software
· Full UK driving licence (preferred due to site visits)
Desirable Qualifications
· Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
· Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CIOB)
