Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Technician to join our process engineering team.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in facilitating the technical control and continuous improvement of all production activities including sampling and development of new products; and to set, programme and maintain production robotic/automation operations to defined procedures. This will include the development of new products and processes within a dynamic environment.
The Process Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, optimisation, and ensuring the efficient operation of manufacturing and engineering processes, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Working Hours
Permanent Late Shift - 2pm to 10pm Monday to Firday
37.5 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Supporting rolling production plan
- Production robot program back-ups (to procedures)
- Supporting robot set-up change as part of rolling production plan.
- Maintenance and establishment of systems / procedures to control the following for all foundry automation: Set-up recording and storage; System compliance, preventative maintenance
New / existing product development:
- Creating new robot spray set-up and program (within the quoted cost model for PPAP submission
- Establishing casting parameters for PPAP submission
- Creating new production master disks
- Installing/setting and understanding I/O functionality and robot advanced functions
- Temperature recording, vacuum checks/die temperature
- Comparisons, x-ray/density checks
- Confirmation of spray rig performance and robot spray manifolds/static equipment, e.g., Pressure flow and position of sprays
- Robot fault diagnostics to check list/previous faults history log and diagnostic procedures.
Existing product maintenance including:
- Supporting robot set-up change as part of rolling production plan.
- New / existing product development
- Updating robot history files
- Daily disk handling requirements
- Robot changeovers and setting of sprays to correct positions.
- Setting spray rig requirements to set-up (pressure and flow)
Problem solving production issues involving:
- Set-up confirmation (using black box/set-up sheets)
- Cycle breakdown sheets
- Using diagnostic equipment - PCM, LaMotte, thermal camera etc
- Full understanding of setting the die casting cell
- Die change preparation (sleeve/tip loading, ladle setting, shear press operation)
- New / existing product development - establishing casting parameters for PPAP submission.
- Documentation of set-up paperwork and action reports (use administration support as required)
Requirements
- Time served apprenticeship would be advantageous.
- Programming experience in ABB or equivalent / any exposure to logic control (I.O.), ideally proficient in ABB programming but not essential.
- Proven experience of cycle time reviews / cycle breakdown analysis (to procedures)
- Proven experience of implementing continuous improvement of system reliability (equipment and procedures)
- Solid understanding of root cause analysis techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on maintenance optimisation and system debugging.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to work independently or as part of a team within a fast-paced setting. Pay: £28,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
