Full job description

The post holder is responsible for undertaking a wide range of manufacturing processes operating to high standards of quality whilst promoting and supporting continuous improvement within the Sheet Metal Fabrication Department.

Responsibilities & Duties

1. Welding

Carry out various forms of MIG welding creating a high-quality finished product
Choose appropriate welding method for the task at hand
Prepare materials including cleaning / grinding (surface preparation) ready to weld
Inspect completed welds (where possible) for fusion
Maintain welding equipment including machine / torch / PPE
Pay attention and follow welding specifications and symbols on production drawings · Interpret and understand Production Drawings
Complete pre start checklists and sop each day
Follow critical notes / dimensions on production drawings
Achieve and maintain welding accreditations
Ensure Housekeeping standards are met & adhered to

2. Welding Targets

Complete daily output sheets.
Complete welding to agreed targets.
Follow the 1st of inspection process and sign off.

3. Quality Control and Continuous Improvement

Maintain a high standard and quality of work.
Engage in conversations to improve welding efficiency

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications and experience:

Required:

GCSE English and Maths
Able to read, understand and fully interpret engineering drawings
Experience in TIG welding stainless, aluminum and mild steel to high quality standard
Able to demonstrate confidence and reliability in dimensions, layouts, shear and flame cutting
Experience of modern manufacturing techniques.
Recognised served engineering apprenticeship, City and Guilds or equivalent
Manual handling - lift products up to a maximum 25kg unaided
Good Communication
