We have an exciting opportunity for a Tenancy Sustainment Support Officer to join our team in Chesterfield on a full-time, permanent basis.
Action Housing is a Registered Charity and Housing Provider. We support vulnerable individuals and families to establish and maintain a home, empowering tenants to build the skills and confidence needed for long-term independence.
The Role
As a Tenancy Sustainment Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting vulnerable clients to maintain their tenancies and successfully engage with services that promote stability, wellbeing and independence.
You will work directly with clients to deliver practical housing-related support, facilitate engagement activities, and support positive move-on outcomes where appropriate.
This is an office-based, in-person role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver client engagement activities, including informing clients of relevant opportunities, facilitating attendance, and leading or supporting group work sessions
- Provide housing-related support, including accessing community services, maximising income and benefits, addressing accommodation issues, and supporting health and wellbeing needs
- Maintain accurate, clear and timely case records, completing required documentation and case notes on the case management system
- Manage and update Client Support Modules
- Assess referrals and manage waiting lists
- Support clients through planned move-on, including transition support and, where appropriate, assisting with transporting belongings
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant services, resources and opportunities to support positive client outcomes
- Complete weekly data returns and contribute to service reporting as required
- Work within professional boundaries, safeguarding requirements, confidentiality, GDPR and risk management procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience working with one or more of the following client groups: offenders, young people, substance users, people with mental health issues, or domestic abuse survivors
- At least 12 months’ experience delivering housing-related support, with an understanding of housing law and local housing options
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals and a commitment to improving outcomes
- Ability to engage and motivate clients who may be reluctant or disengaged, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
- Experience of delivering or supporting group work
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including telephone and email communication
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and work flexibly on your own initiative
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new systems
- A professional, ethical approach with a clear understanding of boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and effectively with a wide range of people
- Flexibility to work hours in line with the needs of the service

- This post is designated as an Essential Car User. A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, business-use insurance and a valid MOT are required
