Job Overview
We are seeking a hands‑on IT Manager to take full ownership of IT across the organisation. This role covers day‑to‑day IT operations, cyber security, and the development of internal IT systems, including databases and AI‑enabled tools.This is a standalone role suited to someone who is comfortable being accountable for IT end‑to‑end — from supporting users and maintaining secure systems, through to improving how the business operates using technology, automation, and data.The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in protecting, modernising, and developing the organisation’s IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & Support
- Act as the primary point of contact for all IT matters across the business
- Provide hands‑on 1st–3rd line IT support to users
- Manage laptops, mobile devices, user accounts, permissions, and software licensing
- Ensure systems are reliable, supported, patched, backed up, and fit for purpose
Infrastructure & Platforms
- Own and administer Microsoft 365 and associated platforms
- Manage backups, endpoint protection, patching, and disaster recovery arrangements
- Oversee third‑party IT suppliers and service providers where required
Cyber Security & Compliance
- Lead and maintain Cyber Essentials accreditation
- Implement and monitor cyber security controls including MFA, endpoint protection, and patch management
- Develop, maintain, and enforce IT and cyber security policies
- Support data protection obligations and secure handling of company and personal data
IT Systems, Databases & Automation
- Support the design, development, and improvement of internal IT systems
- Maintain and develop databases used for operational, performance, or reporting purposes
- Identify opportunities to automate manual or repetitive processes
- Support the practical use of AI tools or AI agents to improve productivity, analysis, or decision‑making
- Work with stakeholders to translate business needs into effective system solutions
- Ensure all systems and automations are secure, documented, and compliant with company standards
Governance & Leadership
- Advise senior leadership on IT, cyber security, and system‑related risks and opportunities
- Translate technical issues into clear business impact and recommendations
- Maintain documentation, procedures, and system ownership records
- Ensure IT practices align with company policies, standards of conduct, and professional expectations
Experience & Skills
Essential
- Proven experience as an IT Manager, IT Lead, or senior standalone IT role in an SME environment
- Strong hands‑on experience across IT support, infrastructure, and cyber security
- Direct involvement in Cyber Essentials or similar security frameworks
- Experience developing or supporting databases, internal systems, or automation
- Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and owning outcomes
Desirable
- Experience with scripting, automation, or low‑code platforms
- Exposure to AI tools or AI agents in a business environment
- Cyber or IT certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Cyber Essentials Practitioner, Security+, ITIL)
- Experience in regulated, operational, or safety‑critical environments

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
