Location: Lount, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch
Hours: Flexible options available depending on requirements
Pay: Dependent on experience
Hounds Dog Daycare is looking for a confident, caring and reliable Pack Leader to join our woodland-based dog daycare team.
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely loves dogs, understands that every dog has their own personality, and is confident managing groups of dogs safely and calmly. At Hounds, we focus on creating a natural, enriching and positive environment where dogs can play, explore, rest and build confidence.
We have different options available for working hours depending on the needs of the role and the right candidate. We are also keen to support candidates with their education, professional development and any additional skills they would like to learn or progress in.
Main responsibilities
As a Pack Leader, you will be responsible for helping supervise and care for the dogs throughout the day. Duties will include:
Managing groups of dogs safely in our outdoor woodland environment.
Monitoring dog behaviour, body language and group dynamics.
Supporting dogs with appropriate play, rest and enrichment.
Helping new dogs settle into the daycare environment.
Following individual dog care plans, routines and behavioural notes.
Maintaining a calm, positive and structured environment.
Cleaning and maintaining daycare areas to a high standard.
Preparing enrichment activities and helping with basic training support.
Communicating clearly with the team about any behavioural, health or welfare concerns.
Supporting drop-offs, collections and client updates where needed.
Following Hounds’ health, safety, welfare and licensing procedures at all times.
The ideal candidate will be
Confident around dogs of different breeds, sizes and temperaments.
Calm, patient and observant.
Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Comfortable with physical work, including cleaning, walking and supervising active dogs.
A good communicator and team player.
Willing to learn about dog behaviour, body language and safe group management.
Interested in developing their knowledge, skills and confidence within the dog care industry.
Committed to high standards of animal welfare.
Experience
Previous experience working with dogs is preferred, but the right attitude is just as important. Experience in dog daycare, kennels, rescue, grooming, training, veterinary care or dog walking would be an advantage.
Training and support will be provided. We are happy to support the right candidate with ongoing learning, relevant courses, qualifications and additional skills they may want to develop.
Requirements
Applicants must be:
18 or over.
Able to reliably travel to our site in Lount.
Comfortable working outside in a woodland environment.
Physically fit enough for an active role.
Willing to complete any required training.
A full UK driving licence would be beneficial but is not essential.
Why join Hounds?
