Job Purpose:
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Be U Swindon Mental Health Support Team for a part time Clinical Supervisor and Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner to increase the services supervision capacity. Under expert supervision and as part of a dynamic and evolving mental health support team the successful post- holder will supervise, develop, and support Education Mental Health Practitioners/Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners to provide guided self-help, low intensity, brief, evidence-based CBT and to deliver groups and Whole School Approach Interventions. The role will also involve highlighting areas of need within the team and helping to develop the service and create quality improvement plans supported by, and in conjunction with, senior colleagues. The post holder will also hold a small caseload of 6-8 in agreement with their supervisor and some line management responsibility will be required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner within the Mental Health Support Team (MHST), you will work collaboratively with schools, children’s services, health agencies, and community partners to support the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people across Swindon. You will manage and oversee referrals and waiting lists for a cluster of schools, ensuring timely allocation and access to support in line with agreed service protocols. The role involves providing clinical assessments and evidence-based low-intensity CBT interventions, delivering support to children and young people with common mental health difficulties, and signposting or referring individuals to other services where appropriate. You will provide clinical skills supervision, case management, and professional support to qualified and trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs), helping to develop their skills and maintain high standards of care. Working within CYP IAPT principles, you will support the delivery of whole-school approach initiatives, including consultations, workshops, group interventions, audits, and wellbeing promotion activities in educational settings. You will contribute to service development, quality improvement, audits, participation activities, and the development of specialist areas of practice, while ensuring safeguarding and child protection procedures are embedded throughout all aspects of service delivery. The role also includes maintaining accurate clinical records, monitoring outcomes and performance data, identifying training and development needs across the team, delivering training where appropriate, and contributing to the ongoing development of best practice within the service. As a senior practitioner, you will uphold the highest standards of professional practice, confidentiality, inclusivity, and continuous professional development while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver accessible, child-centred mental health support.
