On Track Education Totnes is a DfE-registered co-educational day school for pupils aged 11–19, providing specialist education across two sites in South Devon. Through small-group and individualised learning, we support young people with a range of special educational needs in a nurturing and therapeutic environment. The role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Multi Trades Lead to deliver engaging vocational learning opportunities for our students.
This exciting role will involve leading the planning and delivery of practical multi-trades education, helping young people develop valuable vocational, employability and life skills. Working within a specialist SEND environment, you will support students to gain confidence, achieve meaningful accreditation and prepare for future education, training and employment.
We welcome applications from individuals with relevant industry experience, teaching experience or vocational training backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of practical multi-trades learning, including areas such as carpentry, plumbing, brickwork, plastering and basic electrical work.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons and practical workshops.
- Support pupils to achieve vocational qualifications and accreditation.
- Create a safe, stimulating and well-organised workshop environment.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Assess and monitor pupil progress.
- Promote positive behaviour, confidence and engagement.
- Support pupils in developing practical skills, employability skills and independence.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school and curriculum development.
About You
We are looking for someone passionate about sharing their trade knowledge and supporting young people to succeed.
Ideally, you will have:
- Level 2/GCSE in English and Maths
- Experience within one or more construction or trade disciplines.
- Experience of training, mentoring, coaching or teaching others.
- Strong practical skills and workshop knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people.
- The ability to motivate and inspire learners with diverse needs.
· Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
A recognised teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. Applications are welcomed from candidates with relevant vocational qualifications, trade experience or industry backgrounds.

Salary & benefits
£26,440 – £34,885 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Working hours
Full-time hours: Monday to Friday, between 8:45am and 4:45pm
