Receptionist/ Optical Assistant at Conways Opticians Finchley Branch
Reception, admin and optical/clinical support roles
Administrative
· General office tasks - including keeping the practice organised, tidy, clean and stocked
· Patient records – creating, updating and organising paper and electronic records on the Optix system
· Processing post including receipts of orders
· Use of till - taking cash and card payments, end of day cashing up and reporting
· Setting up and amending Direct Debit payments
· Checking statements and invoices from suppliers
· Ensuring best practice is being followed and the daily checklist is completed in the managers absence
Communication
· Managing appointments in the diary – taking, amending and confirming bookings
· Recalling patients who are due for their eye examinations
· Meeting and greeting patients on arrival including offering and preparing refreshments
· Giving basic advice to patients regarding their clinical and optical care
· Ensuring that the patients are guided through their journey and all relevant information is communicated to the relevant members of the practice team
· Recording all patient communications on the Optix system to ensure continuity of service
Clinical/optical support
· Preparing consulting rooms for clinics; closing down rooms after clinics
· Taking information from a patient with an urgent eye/vision problem and passing on to optometrist in a timely manner
· Recording some pre-exam data to support the optometrist
· Assisting with frame selections and frame display organisation
· Processing orders for glasses and contact lenses, and arranging patient collection
· Chasing orders with suppliers in a timely manner
· Spectacle frame selection and dispensing assistance
· Simple frame repairs and adjustments
Relationships with other staff
· You will support the reception, dispensing and clinical staff
· Direct supervision will be provided by the practice manager
· You need to be able to get on well with the other staff
· You need to be able to work well as part of a team and to be calm and flexible when certain jobs need prioritising.
Experience
⭐️ You must have experience in working at an opticians practice and have some basic dispensing skills.
⭐️ You must have good communication skills, be well presented, confident, with a pleasant and caring manner, and be good at making our patients feel welcome and valued in the practice.
⭐️ You must be able to deal with queries professionally and empathise with people who may be anxious about their eyesight.
⭐️ You need to be well organised, accurate in your work, and efficient.
⭐️ You need to be reliable, honest and trustworthy.
⭐️ You must be willing to undertake training to expand your knowledge base within the practice

Pay: £24,500.00-£25,500.00 per year
