Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for landscaping, gardening, and outdoor maintenance to develop their skills within a professional environment. Prior experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, or construction is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. The position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

Perform routine landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, planting, and weed control
Operate mechanical equipment such as ride on mowers and power tools safely and efficiently
Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across grounds
Use hand tools for planting, trimming, and general upkeep of outdoor areas
Conduct minor repairs and maintenance of equipment and garden structures
Assist with construction projects related to landscaping or site development
Ensure all work areas are kept clean, safe, and organised at all times
Monitor the health of plants and trees, applying horticultural best practices as needed
Support team members in larger projects requiring specialised skills or equipment
Winter maintenance and gritting/ snow clearing

Qualifications

Previous experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, horticulture or construction is desirable but not mandatory
Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating power tools and machinery
Familiarity with hand tools and mowing equipment
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift heavy objects when necessary
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Valid PERSON (or equivalent) certification is beneficial but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate

Pay: £15.00-£18.00 per hour
