Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Customs Clerk to join our shift team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the import and export documentation, ensuring goods comply with regulations for seamless border crossing, classify goods using HS codes, calculate taxes, and use systems like CDS to secure clearance for sea, air, or road freight. This position is available over a rotating 4 week shift pattern of:
Mon – Fri Earlies 0600 -1400hrs
Mon – Fri Days 0830 – 1730hrs
Mon - Fri Lates 1400 – 2200hrs
Mon – Fri Days 0830 – 1730hrs
In addition, you will be required to work 1 Saturday Day shift 0800 – 1600hrs withing 4 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, check and process customs documentation in accordance with national and international regulations.
- Deal with all enquiries and queries including with HMRC and other relevant bodies.
- Liaise with customers, freight forwarders and customs authorities to ensure timely clearance of shipments.
- Maintain accurate records of import/export transactions and ensure all documentation adheres to legal requirements.
- Manage communication with clients and internal team.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including customs laws, and internal policies.
- Keyholder as will be required to unlock and lock the office at SOD and EOD.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of customs procedures, import/export regulations is desirable but not essential
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail for data entry and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
