Montalto Estate, Ballynahinch, Northern Ireland
Salary: £34,000 to £40,000 DOE + staff benefits

No split shifts. Predominantly daytime operation with occasional evening events.

Montalto Estate is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Chef to support the delivery of high-quality food across our busy Café operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented chef to join a growing hospitality team within one of Northern Ireland's premier visitor destinations.

Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will play a key role in leading the kitchen team, maintaining exceptional food standards, and ensuring efficient day-to-day kitchen operations. The role will involve supporting café service as well as occasional events and seasonal functions across the estate.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the daily management of kitchen operations.
Lead and motivate the kitchen team during service.
Prepare and deliver high-quality dishes to agreed specifications and standards.
Assist with menu development, seasonal specials, and product innovation.
Maintain food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards at all times.
Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, and support ordering procedures.
Assist with staff training, development, and performance management.
Ensure consistency of presentation, quality, and portion control.
Contribute to a positive, professional, and collaborative working environment.

Requirements

Previous experience in a Senior Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef, or similar role.
Strong leadership and organisational skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Excellent knowledge of food safety and HACCP procedures.
Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and quality food.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as required.
