Company Overview

Hunt’s Bookshop is a well-established, traditional, family-run bookshop of over 30 years, taking pride in offering excellent customer service and a welcoming atmosphere. We stock a wide variety of new and second-hand book titles, including children’s books, as well as vinyl records, gifts and Warhammer.

Summary

We are seeking to recruit a part-time Sales Assistant who is enthusiastic, reliable and takes pride in their work. The successful candidate will have previous retail experience (essential), ideally within the book trade. A sound knowledge of and passion for books will be highly desirable.

The individual should be friendly, approachable, and an excellent communicator, confident in assisting customers in person, over the phone and by email.

Responsibilities

Welcoming customers to the bookshop and providing excellent service at all times
Giving advice and guidance on purchases and customer enquiries
Handling sales transactions accurately, both cash and card
Opening and closing the shop as a keyholder, ensuring the premises are secure
Receiving and shelving deliveries, maintaining displays and shop presentation
Assisting with customer orders, checking availability and processing sales through our in-house system
Maintaining a good product knowledge, particularly of new and popular book titles, Warhammer and, Pokemon.
Taking care of the presentation of shelves, window displays and promotional areas
Supporting social media activity and book-related events where required
Expertise in E-commerce would be an advantage to applicants

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous retail experience (essential)
Has experience or interest in the book industry (desired)
Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills
Is conscientious, diligent and has strong attention to detail
Is comfortable working independently and managing their time effectively
Has a genuine passion for books and enjoys sharing that enthusiasm with others
Is polite, dependable, and committed to maintaining Hunt’s reputation for excellent service

Further details:

Hours: Minimum 23 hours per week (weekend availability essential)
Standard days and times of work: Wednesday's & Thursdays 9:15am-5:45pm, Sundays 10:15am-4:15pm
Hours may be increased as required
Location: Rugby, Warwickshire
Contract: Part-time, permanent
