Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Pet Groomer to join our dedicated team. At Ty Gwyn Pets, we groom a range of pets - dogs, cats, rabbits and Guinea Pigs usually! The ideal candidate will have experience grooming dogs and ideally cats, hold level 2 grooming qualification or above, have a love for animals and a commitment to providing exceptional grooming services.
This role involves working closely with pets and their owners, ensuring that each animal receives the highest standard of care and attention. As a Pet Groomer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the health and appearance of our clients while delivering outstanding customer service.
Your role will also include the requirement to assist with our daycare arrivals and departures, and you will also be trained with the kennel assistants to help with sickness/holiday cover if necessary. With this in mind, you must be comfortable with working outdoors in all weather conditions and getting mucky occasionally!

Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, clipping, and styling pets according to breed standards and owner preferences.
- These pets will include dogs and cats at the minimum, but we do also have rabbit and Guinea Pig customers.
- Assess the condition of each pet's coat and skin, identifying any potential health issues that may require veterinary attention.
- Maintain a clean and safe grooming environment by regularly sanitising tools and equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about their pets’ needs and grooming requirements.
- Handle animals safely and compassionately, ensuring their comfort throughout.
- Assist with daycare arrivals and departures in the morning and afternoon.
- You may occasionally be required to stand-in for our kennel assistants in daycare and boarding - you will be trained on what the job entails and may be added on to some such shifts depending on sickness and annual leave. This will be as part of your contracted hours.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in veterinary care, animal handling or grooming is highly desirable.
- Strong background in animal care with knowledge of various breeds and their grooming needs.
- Minimum level 2 qualification in pet grooming or dog grooming.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with pet owners.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required, demonstrating physical fitness for the role.
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being is essential.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
Hours and Wage
- We are flexible on hours; we are happy to consider full-time, part-time, permanent and/or fixed term contracts. As we are always expanding, it is easy for us to accommodate. The only essential is that you are able to start work at 8am.
- Full time shifts will be 8am-6pm four days a week, each day includes 2x 15 min paid breaks and 1x 60 minute unpaid break; we can be flexible may be able to accommodate term-time only or part-time hours.
- Ideally, you would be able to start mid-July.
