Job Summary

A Scrap Yard Car Parts Manager oversees the daily operations of an automotive salvage. The role involves managing vehicle parts inventory, supervising dismantling operations, removing usable parts from vehicles, and ensuring safe handling, storage, and sales of recycled automotive components. The manager also coordinates staff, customer service, stock control, and health and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the parts department
Remove reusable vehicle parts and components safely and efficiently
Inspect damaged or scrap vehicles for salvageable parts
Organise, label, and store removed parts correctly
Maintain accurate inventory and stock records
Supervise dismantling technicians
Assist customers with locating and purchasing used car parts
Arrange ordering, collection, and delivery of parts when required
Ensure compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations
Handle scrap metal disposal and recycling procedures
Monitor stock levels and maximise resale value of salvaged parts
Use computer systems for inventory, pricing, and customer orders
Maintain cleanliness and organisation across the yard
Maximise profits through parts sales and stock control

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience in automotive dismantling, salvage, or motor trade industry
Good knowledge of vehicle parts and mechanical systems
Ability to safely remove and handle heavy vehicle components
Leadership and staff management skills
Strong organisational and customer service abilities
Familiarity with tools, lifting equipment, and dismantling procedures
Basic computer and stock management skills
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations

Preferred Experience

Previous work in a scrap yard, breakers yard, or vehicle recycling centre
Forklift licence or machinery operation experience (advantageous)

Working Conditions

Outdoor and workshop-based environment
Physically demanding role involving lifting, dismantling, and manual handling
Exposure to dirt, oil, noise, and varying weather conditions
Use of protective equipment required

Salary & Commission

Basic Salary: £26,436 per year
Commission/Bonus: Additional commission based on parts sales

Pay: £24,420.00-£43,229.76 per year
