Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and uphold high standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for culinary arts and hospitality to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. The position is paid and ideal for those eager to contribute to a professional kitchen setting.

Duties

Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes in accordance with recipes and standards
Support senior chefs in cooking, plating, and presentation of food items
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety regulations
Monitor stock levels and notify management of shortages or expiry dates
Assist with food safety procedures, including temperature checks and hygiene practices
Support team members during busy service periods to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Follow instructions from head chefs and supervisors to ensure consistency and quality in food production
Contribute to maintaining a positive, collaborative team environment

Qualifications

Prior experience in food production, kitchen work, or hospitality is preferred
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Basic cooking skills with an understanding of food preparation techniques
Experience supervising or managing team members is advantageous
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Previous restaurant or culinary experience is highly desirable
Leadership qualities and experience in team management are beneficial but not essential
A genuine passion for culinary arts and hospitality industry standards
