Job Purpose:
To carry out painting and maintenance of building fabrics across the food manufacturing site, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with health and safety regulations. The role requires working at height and in sensitive production areas, maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform internal and external painting of building fabrics including walls, ceilings, doors, and structural elements.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming as required.
- Use appropriate materials and techniques suitable for food-safe environments.
- Operate access equipment safely and efficiently (IPAF certification required).
- Conduct routine inspections and touch-ups to maintain site standards.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to minimize disruption.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Adhere to site hygiene, safety, and environmental policies.
Requirements:
- Time-served painter with proven experience in industrial or commercial environments.
- IPAF certification – essential for working at height.
- Knowledge of painting systems suitable for food-safe environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Painting & Decorating (desirable).
- Knowledge of various painting techniques, surface preparation, and finishing methods.
- Experience working in occupied properties and managing customer expectations.
- Familiarity with COSHH and safe handling of materials.
Desirable:
- Experience in food manufacturing or similar regulated environments.
- Basic understanding of other building maintenance tasks (e.g., plastering, minor repairs).
