Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bakery Assistant to join our vibrant team on a Monday and Tuesday of each week. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and food preparation, with a strong understanding of food safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your skills in a fast-paced bakery environment, contributing to the creation of high-quality baked goods. The Bakery Assistant will support the production process, take orders, serve customers and ensure the smooth running of the shop.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of baked goods and making of sandwiches/rolls.
- Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofing cabinets safely and efficiently.
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, and mixing according to recipes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bakery workspace in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure consistent product quality.
- Support the team in packaging and presenting baked goods attractively for sale or display.
- Follow all health and safety procedures diligently to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying management of shortages.
- Take orders accurately in person and over the telephone
- Serve customers, process transactions.
Experience
- Proven experience in food production, food preparation, or cooking within a bakery or similar environment.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in a commercial kitchen setting.
- Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with bakery equipment and tools is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
