The Mission
Following a successful acquisition, we are seeking a highly skilled, strategic finance professional to lead our site’s financial operations through a pivotal two-year earn-out period. This pivotal role requires a commercially-minded professional to partner directly with the Managing Director to navigate strict covenants and drive the ERP implementation. We are seeking expertise in strategic financial leadership, not primarily routine transactional processing. You will be a key driver of financial insight for a £25m manufacturing business, providing the insight needed to protect and maximise our earn-out potential.
Key Responsibilities
● Strategic Oversight: Take full ownership of the P&L and Balance Sheet, ensuring all
reporting aligns with PLC standards and acquisition covenants.
● Covenant & Earn-out Management: Monitor and report on strict financial covenants,
providing the MD with early warnings and strategic workarounds to protect business
interests.
● ERP Implementation: Act as the finance lead for the upcoming ERP system rollout,
ensuring "fully integrated" manufacturing processes (WIP, Stock, BOM) are captured
accurately from day one.
● Enhanced MI & PLC Reporting: Design and deliver high-level Management Information
(MI) suites that satisfy both local operational needs and the detailed requirements of the
Group PLC.
● Business Partnering: Move beyond the desk to partner with Production Managers and
Engineers, translating complex manufacturing data into actionable commercial
strategies.
● Financial Control: Maintain and reconcile all schedules, ensuring technical proficiency in
complex journals and variance analysis (Price vs. Usage).
● Cashflow & Working Capital: Manage cashflow forecasting to support high-intensity
manufacturing cycles and statutory requirements.
● Supervision of the local bookkeeping team and manage the transition of financial duties from the current FD and finance manager.
Person Specification:
Essential Criteria
● Qualifications: Fully Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA). While QBE may be considered, the
technical demands of PLC reporting favor a chartered background.
● Manufacturing Expertise: Demonstrable experience in a fully integrated product
manufacturing environment, with a deep understanding of WIP, stock valuations, and Bill
of Materials (BOM).
● Systems Expertise: Proven experience in ERP implementation or optimisation, with
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for manipulating large manufacturing datasets.
● Commercial Gravity: The ability to present financial data with authority and impact to the MD and non-finance stakeholders, challenging the status quo constructively.
Personal Attributes
● Self-Starter & Takes Ownership: You take complete accountability for the finance function in the absence of an FD.
● Adaptable & Resilient: Comfortable in the high-pressure environment of a
post-acquisition earn-out.
● Solution-Focused: Identifies and analyses variances, then proposes clear, actionable solutions to correct them.
What We Offer
● Direct Impact: A seat at the table with the MD and the opportunity to influence the
success of a £25m business.
● Career Progression: Exposure to PLC reporting and ERP implementation that will
significantly elevate your professional profile.
● Competitive Package: Salary reflective of a lead role, plus benefits and a supportive,
collaborative culture.
● Pension.
● Healthcare upon successful completion of probation.
