Overview:
Do you have the news judgement to lead a multi-award-winning team at the sharp end of environmental journalism?
Do you want to pursue stories that don’t just report on policy, but change it?
If you are hungry to set the agenda on critical environmental issues – from the climate crisis and biodiversity loss to the sewage scandal – this could be the role for you.
A rare opening has emerged at the market-leading publication ENDS Report. This is an exciting opportunity to take a central role in a talented newsroom that has delivered unprecedented impact through its groundbreaking investigative journalism and hard-hitting news output, prompting regulator investigations, inspiring legal action, and being regularly cited in Parliament.
We are the UK’s leading publication for environmental professionals, serving environment managers in business, regulators, environmental consultants and a wide range of other environmental specialists. Our mission is to provide the investigative depth and human-led reporting that the environment and climate story deserves. At ENDS Report we don’t just aggregate the news – we break it.
We are looking for a news editor to be the engine of our daily news output, bringing in your own original stories as well as leading reporters with a proven track record of delivering high-impact scoops that regularly set the agenda for national media outlets.
The successful candidate will support the deputy editor in planning, coordinating and delivering the title’s news and analysis content. They will also have the opportunity to appear on our rapidly growing weekly podcast, The Eco Chamber.
This role will be focused on daily news, but we are keen to hear from journalists with an interest in pursuing in-depth environmental investigations that bring in high quality original stories.
The successful candidate will have excellent news judgement, the ability to spot the stories that matter most to our audience’s working lives, and the drive to chase down new lines. They will also have the attributes to motivate and manage an experienced team of journalists, and first-class commissioning, editing, organisational and interpersonal abilities. Also vital is the ability to make good decisions and maintain attention to detail under time pressure.
At ENDS Report, we believe that expert, trustworthy reporting can change the world for the better. If you have the tenacity to lead a team that is already doing exactly that, we want to hear from you.
Please include a cover letter with your application setting out why you would be a good fit for this position. Your application should be composed entirely of your own work and must not include content generated by artificial intelligence.
