OVERVIEW

Who we are -

Salus is a GP Federation which was formed by the local GP practices within Northeast Hampshire and Farnham. This includes practices located in Aldershot, Farnborough, Fleet, Farnham & Yateley. We hold several contracts supporting primary care to deliver services on behalf of those practices, helping them work better together and with other healthcare providers leading to improved patient services and developing new ones in response to changes in the Primary Care environment.

We aim to stabilise, sustain, and shape plans for primary care and provide a unified voice for healthcare. The organisation is dedicated to enhancing patient care and improving the health of the local population whilst developing the core of current primary care services to enable a greater provision of proactive, personalised and coordinated health and social care.

About the role

Mayfield Medical Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) to join our multidisciplinary primary care team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support patients presenting with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions in a fast-paced and supportive GP practice environment. The successful candidate will work autonomously as a first point of contact for patients, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, management, and onward referral where appropriate.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone who:

Is a qualified Physiotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (desirable).

Has experience working within musculoskeletal physiotherapy, ideally at advanced practice level.

Has experience or understanding of Primary Care / First Contact Practitioner working (desirable).

Demonstrates excellent communication and patient-centred consultation skills.

Can work independently and make autonomous clinical decisions.

Has strong knowledge of MSK pathways, red flags, and evidence-based management.

Is confident in advising on imaging and onward referrals where clinically indicated.

Works well within a multidisciplinary primary care team.

Essential Criteria

Degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy

HCPC registration

Significant post-registration MSK experience

Excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills

Ability to work autonomously within scope of practice

Strong IT and record-keeping skills

Desirable Criteria

Primary Care or GP practice experience

First Contact Practitioner training/credentialing

Independent prescribing qualification (if applicable)

Experience using GP clinical systems such as EMIS Web
