The Terrace is the only Isle of Wight restaurant listed in the Michelin, AA, Good Food and Harden’s guides. Our kitchen is spotlessly clean and very well organised and our team are all very good cooks with positive attitudes.
We currently have an opening for a Senior Chef to take a support role within the team owning bulk prep of breads, sauces, garnish and proteins across all sections. The role will also encompass management of stock and storage and ordering as well as training more junior team members.
The key advantage of the role is hours from 7am to 5pm five days a week, allowing the bulk of prep to take place out of core hours while the role offers assistance in busy lunchtime services.
To apply for this role you need to be able to self-manage. This includes understanding and adjusting recipes while documentation, managing stock, communicating clearly, looking ahead based on covers to understand volumes and ensuring all ordering is managed sensibly. You'll also need to be a clean, efficient worked who sets a good example to less experienced team members, and ideally you'll be capable of collaborating on the creation of costed, achievable dishes that reflect the season.
We have two brand new rational ovens, decent blenders and mixers that work, two huge vac machines, a big walk in, brand new plates and quality, working equipment. Where we don't have something a chef needs, we buy it. We change our menus roughly every 6 weeks to keep seasonal but we execute this change in a manageable way across the menu.
Our service is flawlessly organised - fixed numbers of covers every 15 minutes, no covers taken outside these slots, so no unpredictable late nights or otherwise, and minimal events or other non-standard disruptions. Our rotas go live two weeks in advance and our tips are excellent.
This job is located in Yarmouth overlooking the Harbour, you'll need to have your own transport or live locally.
