Grain is a relaxed, quality-driven pizza and craft beer restaurant St David's peninsula, with a big focus on great food, great drinks and good people. What makes it work isn’t just the dough or the beer; it’s the team behind it.
We’re looking for a brilliant General Manager to lead that team.
You’ll set high standards, but how you bring them to life will be very much your way. You’ll take full ownership of Grain Cardigan, inside and out, making sure every shift runs smoothly, the atmosphere stays spot-on, and the restaurant feels like a place people genuinely want to be. For guests, for the local community, and for the team you lead.
You’ll be hands-on without hovering, calm under pressure, and confident enough to let good people do what they do best. From busy summer evenings to quieter winter lunches, you’ll ensure every service feels welcoming, well-run, and unmistakably Grain.
Most importantly, you’ll care about the food, the drinks, the standards, and the people, and it’ll show in everything from how the team works together to how guests leave smiling.

- Setting clear expectations around service, standards, and behaviour
- Owning the full guest experience, ensuring every visit feels warm and memorable

- Recruiting, training, and developing supervisors and future managers
- Overseeing stock control, ordering, deliveries, and supplier relationships
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, and licensing regulations
- Working closely with the board to implement strategy and drive growth
Desired experience:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or senior hospitality leader
- Strong people management and coaching skills
- Commercial awareness and confidence in managing budgets and KPIs
- Experience in busy, quality-led hospitality environments
- Passion for great food, craft beer, and exceptional service
- Organised, proactive, and calm under pressure
What you’ll get in return:
- 25% non-working food discount
- Paid breaks
- 28 days holiday
- Company pension scheme
- Tips shared equally across the team (based on hours worked)
- Christmas Day & Boxing Day off
- Working for a real Living Wage employer
- Opportunities for training and progression
- Regular team get-togethers with food & drinks
- Support from a committed and approachable board of directors
