Job Summary
Tarka Van Hire is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Senior Vehicle Rental Executive to join our team in Bideford. This role suits someone with a motor industry background who can be a steady, knowledgeable presence in our rental team while also taking ownership of our workshop, dealership and damage workflows.

About the Role:
This is a dual-focus role. First and foremost, you will be part of our rental team — booking customers in, sending confirmations, serving customers on arrival, and checking vehicles in and out alongside your colleague. On top of that, you will be the person who keeps our fleet on the road, owning the relationships with workshops, dealerships and our damage team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing excellent customer service, both in person and over the phone
- Processing rentals, managing customer accounts and supporting the day-to-day rental desk
- Checking vehicles in and out, identifying and recording damage
- Booking, liaising with and chasing workshops and dealerships for services, repairs and recalls
- Notifying customers of damage and progressing damage jobs through to resolution with our damage team
- Acting as a key communication point between management, logistics, the damage team and external suppliers
- Cleaning and delivering vehicles
- Managing the fleet and ensuring vehicles are well-maintained and roadworthy
- Travel to other branches for the day Weekend work (every other weekend)
Qualifications:
- Motor industry experience is essential — for example, a service advisor, aftersales or dealership booking role, or similar
- Previous vehicle rental experience preferred but not essential
- Full UK and clean driving licence, held for a minimum of 2 years
- A good understanding of computer software, including Excel, and confidence using multiple systems day-to-day — you should be comfortable picking up new platforms and understanding how different systems link together
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations (e.g. damage notifications) professionally
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility and adaptability

Additional Information:
This is a full-time position, working 42.5 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be required to work every other weekend, with a day off in the week every other week on a rotational basis.
