We are seeking a motivated, organised, and career-focused Junior Bookkeeper & Practice Support Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis.
This is not a basic administration role. While administrative responsibilities form part of the position, the successful candidate will be working within a busy bookkeeping practice and will be expected to learn bookkeeping, accounting processes, and financial systems. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work accurately under pressure, and a willingness to continuously develop new skills.

Hybrid working may be considered following successful completion of the probation period.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing supplier invoices and maintaining purchase records
- Assisting with bookkeeping tasks and financial data entry
- Supporting the management of aged payables and supplier accounts
- Maintaining accurate client records and digital filing systems
- Assisting with account reconciliations and bookkeeping processes
- Managing daily email correspondence
- Scheduling client meetings and appointments
- Supporting the bookkeeping team with client-related administrative tasks
- Maintaining practice databases and internal systems
- Assisting with general office administration and organisational duties
Essential Skills & Attributes
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Numerically confident and comfortable working with financial information
- Professional, reliable and proactive approach to work
- Strong willingness to learn bookkeeping and accounting processes
- Ability to remain focused and accurate during busy periods
Important
This role can be fast-paced and demanding, particularly during busy client deadlines and reporting periods. We are looking for someone who enjoys learning, takes pride in accuracy, and is prepared to develop a strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial administration.
Whilst full training will be provided, the successful candidate should be prepared to invest time and effort into learning new systems, processes, and technical skills.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in bookkeeping, finance, administration, or office support
- Familiarity with Xero accounting software
- Experience processing invoices or maintaining financial records
- Experience using cloud-based business systems and digital document management platforms
