Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our pharmacy. The successful candidate will support pharmacists in dispensing medications, providing excellent patient care, and ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. This role offers valuable experience in a professional healthcare environment and is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy or healthcare services. The position is paid and involves working within a friendly, patient-focused setting.

Duties

Assist pharmacists with dispensing prescriptions accurately and efficiently
Manage medication stock levels, including ordering and stock rotation
Prepare and package medications under supervision, ensuring compliance with safety standards
Provide excellent customer service by answering queries and offering medication advice within scope of practice
Support patient care activities such as medication administration and health monitoring as directed by pharmacists
Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, medication logs, and patient information
Ensure the pharmacy environment remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
Support administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and appointment scheduling

Qualifications

Previous experience as a pharmacy dispenser or assistant is highly desirable
Knowledge of medication administration processes and patient care procedures
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Basic IT skills for record keeping and data entry
A recognised qualification in pharmacy assistance or related field is preferred but not essential
