JOB TITLE: School Administrator
HOURS OF WORK: This is a 43 week, 20 hour per week role . The hours of work are 9.15-1.15pm, Mon-Fri during term time. The role will be based in the school office Mon-Fri.
HOLIDAYS: 6 weeks holiday inclusive of bank holidays. Must be taken within the school holiday periods.

ABOUT WHARFEDALE MONTESSORI
We are located in Strid Wood on the beautiful Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire and provide preschool (from 3 years up to the age of 6) and primary education (up to 11 years). Founded in 1990 by Jane Lord, the school is inspired by a passionate belief in the benefits of a Montessori education, to give pupils hands-on and practical instruction in a high-quality environment. Our aim is to enable children to achieve their full potential, to be happy, to grow in knowledge and confidence, to be able to find their place in the world, enjoy it and do well.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a strong administrator join our team to compliment the running of the School alongside our Principal and Proprietor. This is a busy and varied role and ideally, the successful candidate will have worked in a similar role in education with some HR or financial administration experience however this is not essential. They must be detail orientated and able to work independently.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
GENERAL
· Efficient administration of the school office; email correspondence, maintaining pupil records and filing systems, accurately and appropriately responding to parent emails/telephone calls
· Act as first point of contact for all external parties, including parents and regulatory bodies (e.g. Ofsted, Department of Education, North Yorks County Council).
Production of a wide variety of documentation for example marketing material, letters, reports, parent handbooks and pupil registration documents.
Supporting with lunch supervision as and when required
· Working closely with the PTA group ‘Friends of Wharfedale Montessori’
Creation/editing of Principal’s correspondence, provision of ad hoc written communication.
FINANCE
· Management of termly 15 hours funding process. Involves parent liaison and electronic submittal of information to the Council, working to a given deadline each term
· Working closely with the Proprietor re school fees and monthly staff pay.
· Collating a weekly shopping order
· Undertaking analytical research duties when required
· Submitting the annual DfE census report
· Organisation of school events and trips
HR
· Providing significant input into HR process management, ensuring employer/employee compliance is adhered to.
· Recruitment; preparation of job adverts and providing support in interview process ensuring ‘Safer Recruitment in Education’ compliance is adhered to
· Updating school policies
· Take minutes of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings
· Distribution of safeguarding updates to staff
MARKETING
· Design/create adverts for open days
· Website and Social Media management
ADMISSIONS
· Management of new pupil enquiries; arranging visits for prospective parents and issuing new starter registration paperwork
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
You should have experience of working within an office environment as an Administrator or a similar role, with strong written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills and experience of using standard software within a work environment. A professional, proactive approach and ability to work as effectively as possible is essential. You should have experience working effectively as part of a team and also be able to work independently using sound judgement when required.
Previous school administration and human resource experience is desirable.
You will be prepared to contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
