The Role
We are seeking an HR Assistant Manager to support both our permanent and seasonal workforce operations. This role is responsible for delivering a comprehensive HR service across the full employee lifecycle, while managing the unique demands of a business with approximately 40 permanent employees and up to 450 seasonal employees during peak periods.
The successful candidate will play a key role in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll administration, compliance, training, and performance management, ensuring the business is effectively supported throughout both standard operations and fast-paced seasonal activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate permanent and seasonal recruitment activity
- Manage onboarding and induction processes
- Handle disciplinary, grievance, and performance management procedures
- Monitor employee welfare, engagement, and accommodation-related matters where applicable
- Support employee relations, performance, and absence management
- Maintain HR records, ensure legal compliance and comply with Health and Safety standards
- Assist with payroll administration and reporting
- Support employee engagement, wellbeing, and training and development initiatives
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an HR role
- Experience supporting large seasonal or operational workforces
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Experience working with HR and payroll systems
- CIPD qualification or working towards qualification is desirable
