Primary Purpose: PCML is a market-leading manufacturer of high-end precision machined components and assemblies, specialising in STEM markets, including Bio-Tech & Medical Equipment, High-Tech Industrial Applications, Defence and Aerospace.
The Site Operations Manager is responsible for leading the Sandy site in delivering the agreed plan to meet customer quality and delivery requirements. Collaboration with internal departments is critical to this success.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure the safe operation of all production activities, placing health and safety as the top priority at all times.
- To deliver the sales targets by month
- To ensure that the Company Quality objectives are consistently maintained:
- on time delivery to attain greater than 90%
- reject rateto record no more than 1% of turnover
- Promote leadership and look for waste in process to drive continuous Improvement to meet the objectives.
- Providesupport and feedback to team leaders in control of tool utilisation to meet overhead tooling budget.
- Responsible for product quality back to the Shopfloor and away from inspectors to ‘Build in Quality’
- Maintain daily delivery schedules to ensure parts are delivered on the day required.
- Ensure critical promise dates are met and communicated to all parties.
- Report machine breakdowns and proposal of corrective actions.
- Ensure Preventative Machine Maintenance is conducted
- Perform any other duties within your capabilities as directed by the Company
People
- Ensure the delivery of the People policies within the team.
- Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity
- Motivate and coach the team to operational success
- Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems
- Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them
· Review, implement and update company records e.g. training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments
· Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports

Person Specification
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
· Minimum 5 years’ production experience in the engineering sector, including 3+ years in a leadership role
· Strong leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and innovative approach
· Time-served machinist (milling or turning) from an apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience
· Relevant management qualification
· Estimation or project management certifications (desirable)
· Solid understanding of precision engineering processes and materials, with a detail-oriented and accurate mindset
· Practical knowledge of planning methods, including MRP, master scheduling and capacity planning, along with good knowledge of Progress MIS (desirable)
