Job Summary:
The Motor Winder is responsible for winding, assembling, and testing electrical coils and windings used in electric motors. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to read technical specifications, and knowledge of electrical insulation and winding techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wind coils for electric motors to specifications using specialised machinery.
- Install insulation materials and conductors in stators and rotors
- Operate winding machines, coil-forming equipment, and hand tools.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
- Solder, connect, and secure electrical leads and terminals.
- Test completed windings for continuity, insulation resistance, and electrical performance.
- Inspect finished work to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in motor rewinding, coil winding, or electrical assembly.
- Understanding of electrical principles and motor construction.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers, and micrometers.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of electrical insulation systems and winding materials.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AC/DC motors, generators, and industrial rotating equipment.
- Familiarity with quality control and testing procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Workshop, factory environment.
- Clean, tidy environment flow line manufacturing
- Standing for extended periods using bespoke machinery and handling tools and equipment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
