Experienced Plumbing & Heating Engineer – Permanent, Employed
Bowness-on-Windermere & Lake District / North Lancashire
£16 – £22 per hour depending on experience and qualifications

We’re looking for an experienced plumbing and heating engineer to join our growing team at Oakden.
We’re based in Bowness-on-Windermere, with all current work located across the Lake District and North Lancashire. We’re a well-established local construction company with a team of around 20, including office staff, site managers, and a dedicated project management team. We cover building, plumbing, and joinery, delivering high-quality domestic projects including extensions, refurbishments and full bathroom installations.
We have over 12 months of work booked in, with new enquiries coming in daily. This role is about strengthening the experienced team we already have, not rapid or unmanaged growth.
The role
- Plumbing and heating work across domestic and commercial projects
- Full bathroom installations from first fix through to completion
- For candidates with tiling experience, the opportunity to deliver bathrooms start to finish
- On larger sites, work is overseen by site managers
- On smaller jobs, you’ll be trusted to work independently, with support and oversight from our project management team
- Jobs are properly planned and managed, with materials organised and office support
- Local work only, home every night
What we’re looking for
- Strong plumbing and heating experience
- Gas Safe registration preferred
- OFTEC or LPG experience an advantage, but not essential
- Tiling experience is highly desirable, particularly for bathroom work
- High standards and pride in your work
- Reliable, organised, and comfortable working independently
- Full UK driving licence preferred
