Job Overview
DRIVING LICENSE NEEDED

Level 2 food hygiene needed

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Food Van Catering Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role involves supporting the preparation and serving of food at various catering events, ensuring a high standard of service and food safety. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the catering industry while contributing to memorable events.

Duties

Assist in food preparation, ensuring all ingredients are ready for service
Serve food and beverages to customers in a friendly and professional manner
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the van’s kitchen and serving area
Uphold food safety standards at all times, including proper handling and storage of ingredients
Manage cash register operations, including basic maths for transactions and change
Support with setting up and packing down equipment before and after events
Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities during service
Ensure timely delivery of food services at scheduled events, adhering to time management principles
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation during busy periods

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is preferred
Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
Experience with kitchen operations or culinary work is advantageous
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour when interacting with customers
Ability to work flexibly, including weekends or evenings if required
Prior experience in serving or hospitality roles will be considered a plus
