Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Pre-school Apprentice to join our team. This paid apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience working with young children in a nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about childcare, eager to learn, and committed to supporting the development and well-being of our pre-school children.
This position is for 2-3 days a week working 9am to 3pm during term time only.
PURPOSE OF JOB
· To provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children aged 2 – 5 years of age.
· To work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals to promote the well-being of the children.
· To deliver the Early Years curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
· To implement the policies, procedures and practices within the pre-school
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
· To provide activities to ensure that, whilst at the pre-school, children receive physical, emotional, social and intellectual development, giving consideration to families ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds whilst maintaining relationships with parents and carers on the admission, care and education of children to ensure that the diverse needs of the children are met.
· Keep abreast of legislation, guidelines, policies, etc, to ensure the Early Years Foundation Stage is met at all times.
· Ensure health and safety regulations are met, that the pre-school is kept to the required standards of cleanliness and hygiene and ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, staff and visitors.
· To undertake appropriate planning, observation and assessment procedures to ensure a consistent service, providing a wide variety of activities to stimulate and support children’s development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. In addition act as a key person, regularly assessing your key children and recording the assessment in the child’s learning journey and exchanging information about progress with the child’s parents/carers.
· To keep completely confidential any information regarding children, their families or other staff members learned as part of their job.
· To advise senior staff of any concerns relating to individual children or their families or other staff members.
· To attend termly cleaning sessions and any annual events organised either during term time, school holidays or weekends.
· To attend supervision meetings, staff meetings and identified training to ensure continued professional development.
· To complete any other duties as directed by the Manager
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
· working towards a minimum of Level 2 qualification in Early Years and Childcare.
· Level 2 qualification in English or willingness to obtain alongside qualification.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
· Experience of working in an early years setting, or other suitable experience.
· Relevant experience in an early years setting.
· Possess or be willing to obtain Paediatric First Aid certificate.
· To have received Basic Awareness of Child Protection.
· Understanding of use of basic technology (computer, photocopier, etc.)
· Experience and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
· Knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures relating to safeguarding children, health and safety, equal opportunities and confidentiality.
