Workshop Controller – Accident Repair Centre
Location: M&E Accident Repair Centre - 108 Cannock Street, Thurmaston, Leicester, LE49HR.
Salary: £37,500–£40,000 per year (depending on experience) + Performance-Related Bonus
Job Type: Full-time | Monday-Friday | 8:00am-5:00pm | No weekends
Looking for a Workshop Controller role where you can focus on running the workshop rather than chasing paperwork?
M&E Accident Repair Centre is a well-established, independently owned, manufacturer-approved accident repair centre with approvals from Kia, Volvo, Hyundai and Stellantis, operating to BS10125:2022 standards.
We're looking for an experienced Workshop Controller to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our busy workshop.
Unlike many repair centres, you'll be supported by three experienced estimators, a dedicated parts department and a dedicated claims team, allowing you to focus on what you do best - leading the workshop, supporting your technicians and ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Managing a team of approximately 10 technicians, you'll work closely with our Commercial & Operational Manager to maintain productivity, quality and an organised, professional workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily workflow of the workshop.
- Allocate repairs based on technician skills and workload.
- Monitor repair progress to ensure vehicles are delivered on time.
- Carry out final quality inspections before vehicle handover.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient workshop.
- Work closely with estimators, parts and claims teams to minimise delays.
- Ensure compliance with BS10125:2022 and manufacturer repair standards.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Lead by example and maintain high standards throughout the workshop.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with previous experience in a busy accident repair environment who enjoys leading a productive workshop and takes pride in delivering quality repairs.
Ideally you'll have:
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Assistant Workshop Controller or Senior Bodyshop Supervisor.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills.
- Experience using bodyshop management and/or estimating systems.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Knowledge of BS10125 and manufacturer approvals would be advantageous but isn't essential if you have relevant accident repair experience.
Benefits
- Performance-related bonus.
- Company pension.
- Employee discount on servicing and repairs.
- Paid training and development.
- Free on-site parking.
- Free refreshments.
- Monthly Free Lunch Friday.
- Annual social events.
- 21 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays, increasing with length of service.
