Full job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Respiratory Support Worker (Band 4) to join our specialist Respiratory Service based at Oak Lane Clinic, East Finchley .

Working alongside Respiratory Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Respiratory Nurse Specialists, Clinical Psychologists, and Respiratory Consultants, you will support the delivery of respiratory and Long Covid services across Barnet in both clinic and community settings.

The role involves supporting Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes, undertaking clinical assessments including quality assured spirometry and capillary blood gas testing, and assisting with the delivery of rehabilitation and respiratory interventions within patients' homes. You will also support patients with self management, inhaler technique, and maintaining independence.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist respiratory skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high quality care closer to home.

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the delivery of respiratory and Long Covid services across Barnet, working closely with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, and Medical Staff.
Support the delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes and implement agreed treatment plans for patients in their own homes and community settings under the supervision of registered clinicians.
Undertake a range of clinical assessments and procedures, including spirometry, capillary blood gas testing, and field walking tests such as the Incremental Shuttle Walk Test (ISWT) and Six Minute Walk Test (6MWT), following appropriate training and competency assessment.
Monitor patient progress, provide feedback to the multidisciplinary team, and escalate any clinical concerns appropriately.
Carry out administrative duties including appointment booking, patient registration, electronic record management, scanning, correspondence, and maintaining accurate clinical records.
Work within professional standards, clinical guidelines, and service protocols, ensuring safe and effective patient care at all times.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the Respiratory, COPD, Long Covid, and wider community services.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including weekly Respiratory COPD MDTs and fortnightly Long Covid MDTs, contributing to coordinated patient care and service delivery.
