Environment & Sustainability Advisor Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.
What will you do?
The Civil Works Alliance has an exciting opportunity for an Environment & Sustainability
Advisor to work on the Sizewell C (SZC) Project for Marine and Tunnels operations and
the Foreshore marine infrastructure. The role is to provide support and advice to
operational teams on all aspects of Environmental Sustainability Management.
This will include providing support on the Development Consent Order compliance,
assisting with the development of environmental documentation, meeting legal and
company standards and helping establish a culture of delivering sustainable outcomes
and continual improvement.
The role will require an understanding of working in complex infrastructure programmes
to ensure their environmental requirements are complied with, offering support to site
teams on site environmental mitigation measures and overseeing the sustainability of
works on site This will include assisting in the development of environmental
documentation, meeting legal and company standards and helping deliver a culture of
continual improvement.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
- Good knowledge of Environmental Management and sustainable Development
- Educated to degree level in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, preferred
- Practical civil engineering site experience at an environmental level and an understanding of environmental legislation, pollution prevention & control measures in varying situations, waste management, environmental Permits and ecology mitigation measures
- Understanding of the Construction, Civil Engineering operating environments
- Good interpersonal skills – keen to engage and learn from all levels of the site teams to understand ongoing operations from an environmental perspective
- Keen to have an ongoing dialogue with the site teams during inspections to get the environmental message across, ensuring the teams understand what they need to do and why
- Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel
- Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
Desirable:
- ISEP or other Environmental Auditor qualification
- ISEP Membership to or working towards Practitioner Level
