Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Workshop Manager to oversee daily operations within our Vehicle Preparation and Aftersales Departments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of Vehicle Prep activities, supervising staff, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional with strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of mechanical processes to contribute to a dynamic team.

Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

Duties

Manage and coordinate all Vehicle Preparation and Aftersales activities
Timely completion of projects and tasks, ensuring vehicles are prepped to a high standard before being placed on the forecourt for sale
Supervise staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
Oversee maintenance and repair work, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality benchmarks
Liaise and negotiate with external garages to manage repair solutions, costs, and timelines
Plan work schedules and allocate resources effectively to optimise productivity
Maintain accurate records of work performed, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance
Ensure the proper use of hand tools, power tools, and other machinery by staff
Implement health and safety policies to create a safe working environment
Liaise with clients or other departments to clarify project requirements and deliverables
Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to uphold safety protocols

Requirements

Proven experience in a managerial role within a workshop or manufacturing environment
Strong mechanical knowledge with practical experience in using hand tools and power tools
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and supervise a team
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues efficiently
Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical engineering or workshop management are advantageous
A proactive attitude with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Must hold a Full UK Drivers Licence
